I'm sad to report that the body of James Kim was located in a remote area of Oregon in a snowy canyon today. James, the senior audio editor at C|Net, was 35 and had been missing for 11 days. James and his family became stranded by a strong snowstorm in Oregon over Thanksgiving weekend. Wife, Kati Kim, and children were rescued late Monday after being spotted by a search helicopter. James had separated from the family to seek for help on foot two days before the family's rescue.
James was an awesome commentator and a great resource in the technology arena. Today, we lost a great person. God be with James. Farewell.

It's with great relief that I update everyone on the missing Kim Family.
Late Monday, Kati Kim and daughters were found when a helicopter flying over Oregon forestry spotted Kati waving an umbrella. Rescuers have learned that the Kim Family became stuck in the heavy snowfall over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Kati and children are said to be in very good condition after nine days of isolation.
James Kim, CNet senior audio editor, still remains missing. James left the rest of the family two days ago on foot in the search for aid. His footprints had been followed until late Monday and Tuesday rescuers located a pair of pants matching a description of his last known apparel. Rescuers are confident that they are very close to locating James.
My thoughts and prayers go out to safe rescue of James and the expedient recovery of the Kim family.
Bravo, to all in the tech and social communities that rallied around this story to keep it in the media and law enforcement spotlights.

James Kim is a senior editor for audio at San Francisco-based CNet. I really enjoy his videocasts on audio technologies like the Zune.
James and his family left for a vacation trip through the Northwest to Seattle, Washington, over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. James was traveling with his wife, Kati, and two children in a Silver Saab 900 station wagon with license plate "DOESF". The family was last seen near Portland, Oregon, headed toward the Southern Oregon coast with a destination of the Gold Beach's Tu Tu Tun Lodge. The weather conditions during their travel were near white-out conditions with heavy ice and snow and strong coastal winds.
If you have seen this family, please contact the San Francisco Police Dept. at 415-558-5508 during normal business hours and at 415-553-1071 after-hours. The Pacific Northwest call center for the case can be reached at 1-800-452-7888. You can view the missing persons' report here.
I'd like to commend the tech community for their assistance in finding the Kim Family. You'll find additional information and postings here:
